I – The Minimum Standards for Volunteer Fire, EMS, Rescue and Marine Company or
Department
Shall maintain records of response in accordance with an approved reporting system.
Provide a heated station of adequate size and configuration to house apparatus, vehicles and equipment.
Shall have a suitable means of receiving and alarm and alerting membership.
Shall pass an inspection made by the Standards Committee prior to acceptance.
Shall pass subsequent inspections made from time to time by the Standards Committee.
Shall require all emergency vehicles drivers to be trained as Emergency Vehicle Operators.
Shall require all Marine unit vessels to have a qualified operator.
As used in this S.O.G. the term “emergency medical provider" will include those individuals having a current valid certification or license issued by the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services System (MIEMSS).
II. The Minimum Standards for Volunteer Fire Companies or Department are:
Active membership consisting of at least twenty (20) members, which shall include
at least three (3) active line officers.
At least three (3) trained active operators to be appointed to drive & operate the
apparatus. These operators should be thoroughly familiar with the operation of the
apparatus & will be under the guidance of the Chief Officer.
A minimum of ten (10) active members of the company shall have successfully
completed the current Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute Firefighter I or equivalent and
the Hazardous Materials-Operations Level course or equivalent.
Drills with a competent officer in charge shall be held at least monthly. They shall consist of operation of the apparatus, hose laying, ladder work & other evolutions & a record of such drills kept.
Shall operate apparatus in conformance to Kent County Fire Chiefs Association Fire/Rescue/EMS Apparatus Standards.
III. Minimum Standards Volunteer EMS Company or Department
Active membership consisting of at least ten (10) members with EMS training, two of whom must be Line Officers with responsibility for the EMS service.
At least ten (10) members trained at a minimum Maryland EMT-B and Hazardous Materials Awareness or equivalent.
Members trained to drive & operate the apparatus should be thoroughly familiar with the operations of the apparatus & will be under the guidance of the Line Officers.
Shall operate apparatus in conformance to Kent County Fire Chiefs Association Fire/Rescue/EMS Apparatus Standards.
