I.   Purpose

To establish a standard guideline for minimum qualifications to be a Fire Police.

II. Definition

1. MFRI – Maryland Fire Rescue Institute.

2. MFSPQB – Maryland Fire Service Personnel Qualifications Board.

3. DWI – Driving While Intoxicated.

4. DUI – Driving Under the Influence.

5. S.O.G.’s – Standard Operating Guidelines

6. S.O.P.’s – Standard Operating Procedures

III. Fire Police

A.    The qualifications for Fire Police are as follows:

   1.   Shall be at least 21 years of age.

2.      Shall have a valid Maryland driver’s license or equivalent, with no record for DWI or DUI within the last two years.

3.      Shall have completed MFRI Fire Police Orientation

a.  Or have successfully completed one of the following classes:

1.      Traffic Incident Management Course

2.      State of Maryland approved Flagger Course

              4. Shall have successfully completed the following NIMS training.

                       a.  FEMA IS-700: NIMS, An Introduction.

                       b.  FEMS IS-800: National Response Framework, An Introduction.

                       c.  ICS-100: Introduction to ICS or equivalent.

                       d.  ICS-200: Basic ICS or equivalent.

               5.  Be sworn in by the Kent County Sherriff Office as a Fire Police Officer

               6. The following training is recommended

                        a. MFRI Hazards Materials Awareness
