INLAND WATER RESCUE BOAT STANDARDS
A. All Inland Water Rescue Boats to be numbered with 1-digit per your station number
unless more than 1 Rescue Boat in your station, than use a 2-digit number for each
additional unit.
Example: Rescue Boat 2, Rescue Boat 3-1, Rescue Boat 4, Rescue Boat 5-1,
Rescue Boat 6, Rescue Boat 7-1, Rescue Boat 8.
B. Inland Water Rescue Boats shall consist of a power boat with carrying capacity of not
less than 600-lbs. and draft not to exceed 12-ins. Total power shall not exceed the BIA
rated capacity for the boat.
C. They shall conform to all appropriate regulations of the U.S Coast Guard and Maryland
Marine Police.
D. It shall be equipped as follows, which may be carried on the tow vehicle.
E. All Loose equipment shall be mounted in brackets fastened to the marine unit if not
carried on the support vehicle.
Miscellaneous Equipment
Two (2) marker buoys with 50-ft. throwing line and weights.
One (1) anchor with line.
One (1) grappling or drag bar line.
One (1) bailing device.
One (1) waterproof hand light.
Two (2) 25-ft. mooring lines.
One (1) portable fire extinguisher with a minimum rating of 2-A:10-B:C
One (1) 8-ft boat hook.
Four (4) boat bumpers (not required on rubber boats).
One (1) pair of oars.
Optional – One (1) Line throwing gun.
EMS Equipment
One (1) first aid kit.
a. Maybe carried on the support vehicle.
One (1) O2 kit.
a. Maybe carried on the support vehicle.
Optional – One (1) Full Backboard or Floating Stretcher with Harness.
Safety Equipment
One (1) emergency motor kit with spark plugs.
One (1) U.S. Coast Guard approved flotation device for each crew member.
Three (3) signal flares.
Radios, Etc.
One (1) portable radio to meet county standards.
