FIRE ATV STANDARDS
A. All Fire ATVs to be numbered with 1-digit per station number unless more than 1
Fire ATV then use a 2-digit number for each additional unit.
Example: ATV 2-1, ATV 3, ATV 4-1, ATV 5, ATV 6-1, ATV 7.
B. The vehicle shall consist of a motorized 4 x 4 or 6 x 6 Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) or All-Terrian Vehicle (ATV) of minimum capacity to carry the equipment listed below without being overloaded. The vehicle shall not exceed the chassis manufacturer's G.V.W. It must be registered as an emergency vehicle & meet all codes of the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administrations or its successors.

D. All loose equipment shall be mounted in brackets and fastened to the apparatus.
Fire Pump
Pump capacity of at least 5-HP.
Pump shall be tested annually in accordance with current NFPA 1910 – Standard for Inspection, Maintenance, Refurbishment, Testing, Retirement of In-Service Emergency Vehicles, and Requirements for Marine Firefighting Vehicles.
a. Test results shall be kept on file for a minimum of three (3) years for
inspection by the Standards Committee.
Water Tank
Water tank capacity of 50 gallons or more.
Suction Hose, Supply Hose, Fire Hose, Nozzles and Adapters
100-ft. of ¾-in or 1-in. booster hose or fire hose.
Fire hose shall be tested annually in accordance with current NFPA 1930 – Standards on Fire and Emergency Service Use of Thermal Imagers, Two-Way Portable RF Voice Communication Devices, Ground Ladders, and Fire Hose, and Fire Hose Appliances.
a. Test results shall be kept on file for a minimum of three (3) years for
inspection by the Standards Committee.
One (1) ¾-in or 1-in. booster/forestry nozzle.
Two (2) booster hose spanner wrenches.
Electrical Equipment
One (1) portable hand light
a. Can be carried on a support vehicle.
· Miscellaneous Equipment
1. One (1) approved 5-lb. dry chemical portable fire extinguisher.
2. Optional – One (1) vehicle mounted winch with a minimum of 100-ft. of cable.
Foam
Optional – Five (5) gallons of Class “A” foam
Optional – One (1) foam educator if the apparatus does not have a built-in foam system.
Optional – One (1) foam nozzle or foam tube
· EMS
1. One (1) first aid kit.
a. Can be carried on a support vehicle.
· Safety Equipment
1. One (1) traffic vest for each riding position. Each vest shall comply with ANSI/ISEA 207, Standard for High-Visibility Public Vests, and have five-point breakaway feature that includes two at the shoulders, two at the sides, and one at the front.
a. Traffic vest may be part of the members issued PPE, at which point would not be required to be carried on the apparatus.
2. One (1) roll of fire-line tape.
3. Apparatus shall have warning signals in accordance with NFPA 1900 – Standard for Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Vehicles, Automotive Fire Apparatus, Wildland Fire Apparatus and Automotive Ambulances when the apparatus was ordered.
4. Apparatus shall have an audible back-up alarm.
5. Apparatus shall meet Federal DOT standards for lighting, axle loads, tire sizes, frame capacities, height, length, width, etc.
· Radios
1. One (1) portable radio to meet county standards.
a. Can be carried on a support vehicle.
